A litigation dramaturg is a collaborative partner. Together we will sort through a sea of facts to discover the emotional core of your client’s story, and develop compelling ways to share that story and its essential details with the jury. A better story with more details makes your client’s story matter to the audience, and increases the value of your case at every stage. If you want to discover and unleash the potential of your case, and of yourself, I can help.

Great, but that leaves an important question yet to be answered: what the heck is a litigation dramaturg?

Dramaturgical work is the fusion of theory and practice at the core of all theater. The dramaturg is part of the production’s artistic team, collaborating with the director, the designers, and the actors to discover what is needed to transform the text into a living, breathing performance that speaks to this particular audience at this place and time.

Dramaturgy is as inescapable a part of live performance as the actors’ bodies. This work is always done in every production. In a similar way, the work of designing costumes is always done. Letting actors wear whatever street clothes they came to the theater in is a design choice. Even — especially — the total absence of clothing onstage is a design choice. And not one the audience will forget in a hurry, whether they want to or not. The question is not whether the dramaturgical work has been done, but by whom and how well?

A litigation dramaturg is a creativity multiplier. With one, you will explore and question and discover in ways you didn’t know were possible.

Why do you need a litigation dramaturg?

You need a litigation dramaturg because you know there’s more to trying a case than relaying the bare facts – you want to discover the truth and power of your client’s story.

You need a litigation dramaturg because you want to have more fun in your prep work and more confidence in your presentation.

The bottom line is that you need a litigation dramaturg because it maximizes case value. The more fully you convey the truth and power of your client’s story to the jury, the higher they can value it.

Since 2019, I have collaborated with dozens of lawyers and added value to cases at all stages of litigation, from interrogatories to verdicts. The cases I’ve helped bring to trial have received tens of millions of dollars in verdicts.
